Sharlene Karbowski
A note from Sharlene . . . My technological adventures and the constant search for new innovations to help others with technology have been influenced by a select number of outstanding educational leaders who have always encouraged me to be "all I can be."

I hope to foster and model this technology and life goal for others as well. For over 20 years, I have enthusiastically pursued each and every technology learning opportunity available to me.  Formal education included specializing in information management and computer science programs at the University of Nebraska - Omaha and Metro Community College, as well as certification in many specific applications.  Prior to joining the Bright Futures Foundation, I served as Coordinator of Student Information and Web Services for Westside Community Schools in Omaha, Nebraska and implemented their current student information system in 2001.  I have served in many technology-supporting roles for teachers, administrators, and the Superintendent, as well as the Board of Education. For the past three years, I have participated in the Nebraska Department of Education's pilot program to provide input in defining the Nebraska Student and Staff Records System (NSSRS) which also included local, state, and national exposure with Pearson's PowerSchool information system in student data reporting.

I am honored to bring my information management and technical skills to the Bright Futures Foundation to provide technical support, guidance, and leadership to this very important educational non-profit.  I feel this to be the most rewarding experience of my career to be part of an organization to help students of talent and need include the resources of technology in their path to an "avenue of success."
