I am usually never at a lost for words… so it is ironic that I struggle to write a bio about one of my favorite subjects, me.  The difficulty I find is not in talking about me, but doing it in such a way that it will compel and inspire a generation that has had to grow up much faster than a I ever did.

I am a first generation, college graduate from a low income and single parent household.  I know this was only possible with the prayers of my mother and the support of my community.  I was signed up for every free program in the city from NYSP to Girls Inc. to Trio! My mother, who believed then as she does now that trying and doing are synonymous, is without a doubt my biggest inspiration.  Neither of us knew anything about college, fee waivers, Pell grants, etc… all I knew was that mama told me that I was going to college.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. I have been fortunate to meet some great people in my lifetime that have had phenomenal skills and talents to help catapult me to go on and “do great things." 

I hold firm to the belief that if I can do it, anyone can, and I plan to be there to assist every step of the way. Helping young people and their families has been my passion ever since the first caring adult took the time to help my mother and me.
