A note from Jef . . .  A nationally noted researcher and educator, recalling youthful days in which he frequently found trouble, remarked that as a youth he was "one decision away from having a different story."  Isn't that the nature of youth?  Sometimes they make bad decisions, and sometimes they make a series of small decisions, each decision moving them away from success.   Regardless, with support from caring adults and committed peers, young people learn to take the avenue toward success.

I am thrilled to be part of a team that truly believes our mission is to support students of talent and need.  We will not give up on our students.  We think that all can travel toward a successful high school career, college career, and work career.

After my own career as a teacher, principal, and senior curriculum leader in K-12 schools, it is wonderful to now be able to plan a unique program for students of talent and need.  As we have researched the best practices and programs around the country, we know we have the opportunity to build successes like no other program.  We look for our Avenue Scholars to become the next generation of well-educated, well-employed, contributing citizens and leaders.
