I recently sat along the Seine on a cloudy Paris day with a chocolate pastry in my hand and a cup of coffee by my side. Bent over a book, I let the characters of Victor Hugo’s novel Les Miserables come to life.  And yet again, my understanding of the world grew a little bit broader.

I became a teacher as a result of the numerous people in my life that taught me how to make my world grow through education and experience. I treasure this gift they have given me and feel so thankful that I have the opportunity to pass it on. I love watching characters come to life in students’ imaginations. I love reading a student’s original work and marveling at its unique voice. I love bringing the world far beyond the classroom into a student’s life and dreaming alongside that student as he or she maps out a vision for the future and begins to take steps to make that vision a reality.

In joining the staff at Bright Futures, I see a great opportunity to work with talented students who possess great visions for their futures. I am excited for the adventures ahead as students experience success each step of the way from high school, to college, and into a career.
